Help Wanted

We can’t do it alone!

The Syncopated Times is looking for writers of all ages, places, and experiences who share our love of Traditional Jazz, Ragtime, and Swing.

  • If you regularly attend live events we would love to give you a platform to tell the world about them.
  • If you’re a musician with a view from the bandstand, we’d love to share your voice.
  • If you’re a jet setting dance instructor we’d love to have you on board.
  • If you are a superfan who still buys CDs, attends gigs, and reads books as soon as they hit the shelf, guess what, you’ll be in good company.

Whether you live in New York, Berlin, Melbourne, Tokyo or anywhere in between we would love to run stories on Syncopatedtimes.com about what is going on in your area. If you are worried about your English language writing, don’t be, everyone needs an editor. We are interested enough in your experience to make sure it looks professional on our website.

If you already have a blog related to traditional jazz or swing dancing we’d love to talk to you about giving you a platform within our site.

Potential pay is commensurate to experience and the standards of both freelance writing on the internet and jazz writing generally. Just like all the great jazz writers of the past you’ll never make what you could writing something else. Our rate for feature-length stories in the 1200-3000 word range is $100. Shorter items, reviews or multiple submissions to run in the same month will bring less. Many of our most experienced, qualified, and sought out writers volunteer their work.

All submitted writing is on spec. No advances are given to attend events or for any other reason. That’s just the way it is.
