Photographer Chris Barham has died at 87

Chris-BarhamChris Barham, who died on June 19th at 87, is most famous in his home country for taking an iconic photograph of Queen Elizabeth on her coronation day 67 years ago. At the time he was a student of 20 but would go on to a long career as a news photographer for The Daily Mail and other UK papers.

To jazz fans he will be best remembered for a series of photographs he took in 1970, fifty years to the week before his death. The casual photographs of Louis Armstrong interacting with neighborhood children on the steps of his home in Corona Queens are among the most beloved by fans.louis on steps
