Arkansas jazz promoter Al White has died at 92.

Al WhiteA lifelong “Friend of Jazz”, Al White passed away on July 20, 2020, at his home in Hot Springs, Ark., he was 92. With his wife Ann, he was promoter and producer of jazz performances in Arkansas and Tennessee for over four decades. They were regular attendees at other jazz parties and events and welcomed many musicians into their home. White took thousands of excellent photographs of jazz musicians.

In 2000, Al White published a book, Jazz Party, a tribute to the musicians that had enriched his life. In 2002 he was inducted into the Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame.  [Also Read: Ed Polcer’s letter remembering Mr. White from our September issue.]
