Basin Street Regulars to Host Midiri Brothers in Pismo Beach in July

Joe Midiri

The Basin Street Regulars have two truly outstanding events coming up in July. The incredible Midiri Brothers are making the trip to California to perform at a venue in Palos Verdes and they got in touch to see if the BSR would like to host them in Pismo Beach first. Of course, the answer was “Yes!”

Due to the date of their performance in Southern California, the Basin Street Regulars will welcome them on Saturday, July 20th. The schedule for that day will be a little bit different, the music will start at noon and end at 5:00 pm. There will not be a jam session.

Paul Midiri

In addition to the July 20th show at the Vet’s Hall, the Basin Street Regulars will also be hosting a meet and greet BBQ with the Midiris on Friday, July 19th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Cardinal house. This will give fans a unique opportunity to break bread with the Midiris in a casual setting and also see them perform in the gazebo. Suggested donations for this event will be $25, which includes an expertly prepared tri-tip BBQ meal, beer, wine, and tableware. Please RSVP to Shonda Croly at: Shamrockshonda59@gmail.com or put your name on the list at the June Sunday sessions. Money will not be collected in advance. Donations (cash and checks) will be accepted at the door. Checks should be made out to the Basin Street Regulars. Any money collected over expenses will be donated to BSR.

These will be the only opportunities to see the Midiris on the Central Coast in 2024.

Pat Mercuri

The quartet that is coming from back east includes Joe Midiri on clarinet and Paul Midiri on vibes and trombone, Jack Hegyi on bass and Pat Mercuri on guitar. Their drummer is not joining them in Pismo, so we have recruited local favorite, Jim Stromberg to perform with them Saturday at the Vet’s Hall. See more information about these fantastic musicians later in this article.

Not only will the Midiris be performing that day, but we will be opening with the Barrelhouse Wailers. This fantastic band from Ventura has played for us many times and features a collection of talented and eclectic musicians

Both albums are available for digital download on Bandcamp and on all major streaming platforms. For more information, music, videos, and upcoming shows, please visit www.thebarrelhousewailers.com.

Pricing for the entire show will be $10 each for Silver Members, $20 each for regular members, and $30 each for non-members. Only 280 tickets will be available, and this show may sell out. After July 1st, the prices will go up to $15 each for silver members, $25 each for regular members and $35 each for non-members. These are fantastic prices to see these two bands, made possible by generous donations from BSR members.

We want everyone to purchase their tickets in advance. Advance tickets are available on-line at My805Tix (www.my805tix.com/e/midiribrothers-july20). As a further incentive to buy online, we are going to internalize the fees for My805Tix, so on-line pricing will be the same as purchasing at the Vet’s. Using your credit card for an advance My805Tix purchase from home will be very simple, will insure you a seat at the show and will simplify the lives of BSR front desk volunteers!
