Bill Logozzo, leader of the Heartbeat Dixieland Jazz Band in Connecticut, passed away on March 10th. He was 86. He took up drums at 45 and led both the Heartbeat Jazz Band and a rock group known as Triple Play at local events including the Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Festival. He was the CEO of Nutmeg Chrome, a leader in the chrome plating industry. After learning drums in the 1980s and pursuing his love of trad jazz for a number of years he found a way to give back with the Heartbeat Band, which he founded in 2004. He considered it a charity band, using it to raise money for various causes, including Hurricane Katrina victims, and especially music education programs. His group often included members of the Galvanized Jazz Band and other well known players from the area.
