Ben Polcer had the unfortunate experience of being robbed at gunpoint in mid-January not far from his house in the French Quarter of New Orleans. A car with four teenage males pulled up, forced him off his bicycle, took all his possessions, and then drove him to what Ben described as “the middle of nowhere.” He was released and had to walk a good five miles to return to his home.

Saying he was “definitely a little freaked out” by the experience, but responded that he was repeatedly blown away by the countless acts of kindness and generosity when the word got out as to what happened. “Due to an incredible team-effort that included very good advice given and received, super-fast and incredible decision-making, unselfish actions, and a little bit of luck, my stolen bike is now back safe and sound in my house!”

Great Jazz!

Ben continued. “Thanks to Stolen Bikes NOLA, where people are able to post and share information and advice in this kind of situation, the episode had a successful conclusion. I needed a win, and I got one. If anything, I have more faith and love for humanity than ever before.”
