Ragtime in Maine: The Third Annual Glenn Jenks Ragtime Revue

The 3rd Annual Glenn Jenks Ragtime Revue will take place in Midcoast Maine the weekend of October 12th-13th. In keeping with the tradition of the Harvest Ragtime Revues that Jenks produced in the 1990s, the Ragtime Revue honors the life and legacy of composer, pianist and musicologist Glenn Jenks by promoting music through performance, education and scholarships to aspiring musicians.

Hosted by Founder and Artistic Director Aaron Robinson, this year’s Ragtime Revue features the talents of three-time world champion jazz pianist Brian Holland and Grammy-winning drummer Danny Coots performing ragtime, stride, boogie-woogie, blues and early jazz. American archival pianist Corte Swearingen will perform four-handed ragtime works of Jenks with Aaron Robinson. Swearingen will also be on-hand to sign and talk about his latest recording project The Complete Ragtime Works for Piano, Vol I. by Glenn Jenks. The song-and-dance team of Jones & Boyce will perform period dance pieces and songs. Susan Boyce and Brian Jones were longtime collaborators and performers with Glenn Jenks for several decades. Jenks dedicated one of his most beautiful works for ragtime piano to Jones entitled “Sosua.”
