The band was led by her husband Bill Hegamin, and they toured the country with her. Lucille’s next record came out a few months after her first record and was “Arkansas Blues” and “I’ll Be Good But I’ll Be Lonesome“. “Arkansas Blues” was one of the most popular records of 1921. It was such a hit that Mamie Smith recorded a cover version of Hegamin’s hit that same year and the Mound City Blue Blowers would also have a hit with it in 1924. Hegamin continued to record and tour with the Blue Flame Syncopaters until 1922. Lucille and her husband divorced in 1923. She continued to be very popular throughout the rest of the 1920s.
