Broadcaster Andy “Jazzman” Smith has died.

Andy Jazzman SmithAndrew “Jazzman” Smith of White Bluff, TN passed on March 28, he was 83. He served his country honorably for 20 years in the US Army and National Guard. He was a cornet player but most known as an avid collector and historian. He hosted The Jazzman Show on NPR for over 20 years. He traveled to France every year to enjoy the International Boogie Woogie Festival and made frequent trips to New Orleans to take in the music.
“Andy” was a past president for the International Society of Jazz Record Collectors. Closer to home he was a regular attendee of Nashville’s Sunday Night Jazz meetup. where the depth of his knowledge was appreciated by musicians and fans. You can hear a tribute to Andy “Jazzman” Smith on Charlie Booty’s album After Hours.
